AIM, over a period of time, has been also involved in few initiatives, aimed at creating social awareness be it by photo contest or organising poster exhibition on issues of concern. Through such initiatives, AIM is committed for making its modest contribution for creating an awareness, which benefits the society at large.
While Ahmedabad was celebrating its 600th Foundation Day, AIM had launched photo competition – Ahmedabad Archives, to capture and document Living Heritage of Ahmedabad. The eminent jury to evaluate the entries comprised of Mr. Subrata Bhowmick, Mr. Parmanand Dalwadi, Dr. Deepak John Mathew, and Mr Vivek Desai. Three editions of this popular photography contest were organised in 2012, 2013 and 2014 which were all well-received by the photo enthusiasts. Winners of this competition were awarded cash prizes and short-listed entries were exhibited.
Encouraged by Ahmedabad Archives, AIM had launched a similar photography competition with Mumbai as location in 2012. The theme of the competition was “Mansions, Motions and Mumbaikars”. To adjudge and evaluate the entries, jury comprising of prominent faces of Mumbai viz. Ar. Nitin Killawala, Mr. Sudarshan Dheer, Dr. Dinesh Mehta, and Mr. Israr Qureshi were roped in. The winners were given away cash prize and short listed entries were displayed at the exhibition organised at Mumbai.
Water is the elixir of life and yet, mankind is not bothered about its value! Considering the fact that India would become ‘water stressed’ by 2025, AIM went ahead and organised an exhibition of winning entries of the international poster competition ‘Water is Life’ organised by the Zentral Verband Sanitar Heizung Klima (ZVSHK) of Germany. The posters designed by some of the creative minds from the world over had greater relevance to India. The posters were displayed at an exhibition organized in Mumbai and served as a remembrance for the visitors to the importance of water.
