At AIM, we firmly believe in the philosophy of ‘collective efforts for collective growth’ and as a part of this, AIM has the proud privilege of working closely with some of India’s leading industry bodies as ‘partners in progress’. With such a collaborative initiative, AIM has successfully organised some of the very successful conferences, exhibitions and roadshows, on a pan-India scale. With the dynamic leadership of its founder Mr Kamal Khokhani, coupled with the support of partner organisations, activities at AIM has expanded multifold, since its inception in 2006.
With a ‘Think Global – Act Local’ approach, AIM undertakes mega business events on ‘concept to creation’ basis. AIM has, so far, organised 65+ conferences & exhibitions at regional, national and international level at locations like – Kochi, Kolkata, Thane, Khajuraho, Indore, Hazira, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Vijayawada, Chennai, Jaipur, New Delhi, Lucknow, Baroda, Nashik etc.
AIM has collaborated with India’s premier body of interior designers – Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID) to organise IIID Design Confluence & Showcase (IDCS) at various destinations, across the country. The idea behind this initiative is to organise national level event at regional level, especially in Tier-II cities of the country. The objective of this series of event is to take design to the masses and educate public at large about importance of better design. Each edition of IDCS is having three activity verticals – design confluence; product exhibition and student workshop.
Ahmedabad’s leading engineering institution, L D College of Engineering, which recently celebrated its Diamond Jubilee, had organised a Global Alumni Convention at Ahmedabad in January 2023. This Alumni meet was addressed by Shri Bhupendra Patel, Hon’ble CM of Gujarat and it was attended by 1000+ alumni who had travelled from different parts of the country as well as the world. The responsibility to manage the whole event was assigned to AIM, which included planning and organising various sessions on diverse topics, organising inaugural ceremony, taking care of security, CM protocols, services, campus beautification, exhibition, documentation and arranging banquets within the college campus as well as entertainment evening on two nights one of which was a celebrity entertainment evening.
AIM was privileged to be a part of this exclusive workshop which was organized by Head Held High Foundation, Bangalore. The purpose of this workshop was to identify and train a limited number of people from various walks of life in the thoughts and way of life of Mahatma Gandhi. The workshop saw people coming down from various walks of life. The role of AIM included managing the logistics, infrastructure, branding, audio visual requirements, managing set-up at multiple venues separately. The workshop worked out to be a success.
AIM co-organised the very popular and largest literary event dedicated to Gujarati language – Gujarat Literature Festival at Ahmedabad in December 2019, jointly with Cerebral Routes Foundation. GLF’s objective is to reignite the youth’s interest in reading, writing and cerebral pursuits. Literary stalwarts and young writers were invited to share the stage to discuss and debate on wide ranging topics, right from classical literature to new age experiments by young writers. The show had a larger perspective to literature which also included movies, web series, music and many other mediums which cater to the broader sense of spreading awareness of literature. Thus, the show also witnessed presence of dignitaries from multiple fields like songs, script writers, motivational speakers etc.
ONGC Petro Additions Limited (OPAL) had organised a huge event, where Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India was invited to dedicate OPAL Plant to the nation on 7th March 2017 at Dahej, Gujarat. This event was organised by AIM, jointly with Sanket Advertising, New Delhi. The assignment included creation of huge air-conditioned infrastructure for the function and also, separate structures for exhibition, dining, VIP Lounge and so on, in a short period of five days and that too, at remote place! This function saw the presence of dignitaries from India and abroad – Shri Vijay Rupani, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transports & Highways and Shipping; Shri Mansukh Mandavia, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Roads Transports & Highways and Shipping, besides large number of corporates.

The Head Held High Foundation, Bangalore as their initiative had come-up with the concept of organizing a conference / workshop – Global Action on Poverty. The thought behind this was to nurture and help grass root-based individuals to convert them into entrepreneurs. For this, experts and grass root entrepreneurs were invited from across the country to gather and share knowledge. These 3-day activities were conducted at multiple locations across the city of Ahmedabad and consisted of various activities happening at different locations, often simultaneously. AIM’s role for this event included planning the ground layout, setting-up the necessary infrastructure, getting the required permissions from various venue authorities, taking care of the required branding, managing the logistics of multiple experts and entrepreneurs visiting from various locations, managing their stay at different locations, travels & fooding arrangements. All the editions of this conference were a success with the audience leaving satisfied & achieving their goals.
AIM was also a part of the National Craft Fair which was organized by the Government of Gujarat body – iNDEXT-C which focuses on promoting Cottage Industries in the run upto Vibrant Gujarat 2015 celebrations. The fair was organized with the intention to promote cottage industries by giving them space to display their products and by organizing the Buyer Seller Meet as a part of the event. The role of AIM here was or identify & invite qualified buyers from across the country, organizing their logistics, managing their stay, arranging the buyer-seller meetings etc. The activity was a huge success with the attendance of more than 500 buyers from across the country attending the event and both the buyers as well as sellers leaving satisfied with the connections made.
AIM had the privilege to join as Convention Partner to CREDAI Gujarat for organising their real estate conventions, under the umbrella of GUJCON, in 2014 and 2015 at Ahmedabad. The role included conceptualisation of conference theme, developing conference sessions, identifying domain-experts, extend them invitations and organising their logistics for the visit. Besides this, the role also included floor-management, managing of the sessions, organising & briefing of MC for the event, banquets and felicitation of CREDAI members. Presence and participation by eminent experts from the world over at each session were the key to the success of these conventions.
AIM had also organised AAJA Reunion 2014, jointly with the Alumni Association of Sir J.J. College of Architecture at Mumbai. Organised at the historic J J College of Architecture campus, this was an event which took the students of JJ College of Architecture on a trip to nostalgia. It was an evening full of fun and frolic and all the participants enjoyed the event to the fullest.
AIM, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), co-organised IIA’s national convention – IIA NATCON at Mumbai in 2014 on the central theme of “Urban Transformation”. The role of AIM included conceptualising & executing the whole event, organising logistics for speakers and IIA chapter teams, sponsorship marketing, cultural programme, banquets, product exhibition, documentation of the event etc. This national event was attended by 500+ architects, from across the country.
In March 2012, AIM organised a design show – IIID SHOWCASE at Mumbai under a collaborative arrangement with IIID Mumbai Chapter. It was organised with the theme, ‘design show organised by designers for designer products’. Entire event hovered around two major components – ‘Celebration of Design’ (an exhibition of designer products for designers) and ‘Deliberation on Design’ (knowledge sharing on wide ranging topics related to design). Some of the leading product manufacturers and renowned professionals from the field of art, architecture and interior design participated at this Show.
AIM had collaborated with Indian Plumbing Association for hosting the global convention of plumbing professionals – 10th World Plumbing Conference at New Delhi in 2013. This was for the first time that such a global convention on plumbing was hosted by India! The assignment began in 2008, five years before the event, with participation and presentation in the international bidding at Calgary in Canada and the show was finally successfully organized in 2013! The assignment included developing creatives, bringing out marketing collaterals, sponsorship marketing, inviting speakers, venue management, on-site branding, documentation of the event, online delegate registration, execution of product exhibition as concurrent event, booking of five star hotel for the guests/delegates, taking care of hospitality of close to 600+ delegates, who arrived from different parts of the country and the world, logistics arrangement, organising banquets and cultural programmes on each conference day, organising site seeing visits, excursion trips, spouse engagement programmes and so on.
The name D–Cube (culmination of three Ds – Design, Display & Debate) was a design conclave, jointly organised by AIM and IIID Baroda Chapter in 2010 at Vadodara. This mega design show was inaugurated by Dr. Mrunalini Devi Puar, Chancellor, M S University. It comprised of two major elements – a design exhibition to showcase products related to interior architecture and a two-day symposium as a concurrent event. Some of the top-notch professionals from within and outside India participated at this event for presenting their thoughts on design, before an elite audience of interior architects, who arrived from all across the country to interact with these ‘design gurus’!
AIM and the Gujarat Institute of Civil Engineers & Architects (GICEA) jointly organised Gujarat’s largest conference + exhibition on building materials, home decor products, building services, infrastructure development and construction equipments in 2009, 2010 and 2011 at Ahmedabad. Apart from large product exhibition, these events had concurrent conferences to deliberate on diverse subjects like Green Buildings & Sustainable Architecture, High Rise / Smart Buildings, Infrastructure Challenges, Future of Indian Architecture, Infrastructure Development, Sustainable Heritage etc. Some of the nationally and internationally renowned professionals participated in these editions of Nirman. All these conferences were well attended and well received by the ‘movers and shakers’ of building industry.
With growing awareness about plumbing and rising demand for innovative plumbing products in India, AIM and IPA launched the international exhibition of plumbing and allied products – PlumexIndia in 2008. This show was conceptualised and developed as a ‘non-travelling’ show on the lines of its European counterparts. This was a runaway success and in all, AIM organised six editions of PlumexIndia between 2008 and 2014 at Mumbai. This Show established itself as the most effective platform for product promotion and networking amongst the product-specifiers and manufacturers from India and abroad, under one roof.
After setting up his own outfit – Akar InfoMedia Private Limited (AIM) in 2006, Mr Khokhani organised a highly acclaimed conference on Indian energy sector – Energising India, in March 2007 at Ahmedabad, under a collaborative arrangement with the Gujarat Foundation for Development Alternatives (GFDA), launched by former Finance Minister of Gujarat, Shri Sanat Mehta. This two-day conference was instrumental in initiating a dialogue on thermal, hydel and solar energy, demand/supply side management etc. This conference also deliberated on some of the advanced and emerging concepts for India, like hydrogen energy cells, carbon credits, energy envelopes and so on.
Mr Khokhani was assigned the responsibility of event management of the inauguration of Cold Rolling Mill Complex of Essar Steel Limited at Hazira, near Surat. The Mill was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat on 02 September, 2005. The challenge here was to plan and execute entire event, while the steel plant was working on full throttle. Still, Mr Khokhani and his team successfully organised this event without any glitch or hiccup!
One of the greatest milestones for Mr. Kamal Khokhani is to organise an international conference + exhibition on energy sector – ‘Synergy for Energy’ at Ahmedabad in 2004. This mega event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat and his senior cabinet colleagues – Shri Anil Patel, Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and Shri Saurabh Patel. Shri H D Revanna, the then Minister of Karnataka Government also participated in this event. The ‘icing on the cake’ was Special Address, delivered by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, His Excellency the President of India, who flew to Ahmedabad, especially to address this conference, on his birthday – 15th October 2004. The sequel to this highly successful event was organised at Mumbai in November 2005, where renowned personalities from the energy sector shared their views.
Mr Kamal Khokhani envisioned the crucial importance of good plumbing practices in India way back in 2001, when he joined hands with the father figure of Indian plumbing industry, Mr S G Deolalikar, President of Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) for launching India’s first plumbing magazine. After about two years, he introduced the concept of organising Indian Plumbing Conference (IPC). The first ever such Indian Plumbing Conference + Exhibition was organised at New Delhi in January 2003, which was a great success. Encouraged by the success of the first IPC, 20 (twenty) such IPCs were organised at various destinations across the country between 2003 and 2015 These conferences successfully created the much-needed awareness about better plumbing practices, emerging technologies and innovative plumbing products in the country. These events created a strong platform for knowledge-sharing and networking amongst the plumbing professionals and manufacturers in the country.
AIM was also chosen by Madhya Pradesh Government and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), to conceptualise, execute and manage the first-ever state road show – Destination Madhya Pradesh : Global Investors’ Summit 2007 at Indore. This was organised on a large canvas and AIM was assigned the responsibility of thematic conceptualisation, developing creatives, branding exercise, infrastructure development and management of investment summit, industrial exhibition and sectoral conferences, as an end-to-end solution. AIM was also assigned the entire responsibility of organising and managing next similar summit at Khajuraho in 2010, on a turn-key basis, jointly with the Infrastructure Industry & Logistic Federation of India (ILFI). Both these events were organized under the direct supervision of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his senior cabinet colleague, Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya.
With an inherent, long-spanning and hands-on experience of planning and execution of business conferences/ exhibition, Mr. Khokhani had the privilege of organising and managing the first-ever Vibrant Gujarat : Global Investors’ Summit (VG : GIS) in 2003, under the direct guidance of Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). This was a pathbreaking initiative, which has made VG : GIS, a globally acclaimed investment summit and has put Gujarat on the global map, as a vibrant state of India! The assignment included managing main investment summit, concurrent industrial exhibition and also, organising concurrent sectoral conferences for prospective investors, as an end-to-end solution. This association continued and International Kite Festival 2004; VG : GIS 2005 and VG : GIS 2007 summits were also handled by Mr Khokhani and his team on the same lines.
